We won’t sugar coat it… the climate report IS alarming. During the IPCC report press conference, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made strong statements, calling this year’s report the “most intense IPCC report in history”, pointing out that “half of humanity is living in danger zones”, and that “fossil fuels are choking humanity”. Fossil fuels and other human-made GHG emissions are making humanity look like “fossil fools” as we are literally burning the grounds we stand on.
We know that it all sounds overwhelming, but there is GOOD news too: INVESTMENT IN ADAPTATION WORKS! The world has started to make significant and impactful investment into climate solutions, to build new systems to deal with the new reality. With speeches of mitigation and adaptations it has become very clear that there is no looking back, only forward. Together.
A highlight of the report is that our actions guide how we will adapt and account for both humanity and nature in this unprecedented climate crisis. What actions? The building of knowledge to help bridge the divide between policy, citizens, and science. The chair of the IPCC, Dr. Hoesung Leed, emphasised during the IPCC report press conference that “A deeper understanding of solutions for climate change define innovation and actions, which DO make a difference.”
At Klimato, providing knowledge to address climate change and foster climate actions is at the center of what we do. Our climate is our future and we can all contribute to shaping the future we want, one meal at a time.
Every second counts, every voice has an impact, and every meal matters.
