It is confirmed - Klimato is innovative!
The innovative startup grant is given by Vinnova, the Swedish Innovation Agency, to support companies with a unique ability to internationalise and contribute to the SDGs and Agenda 2030. It is hereby finally confirmed, Klimato is innovative.
The grant is given to support Klimato's development and in particular, a completely new project which will bring a much more user-inclusive approach to the table of fighting food-related carbon emissions. The project will be launched in the spring of 2020 and currently carries the working title "ClimateX". Yes, the name of this project is a homage to the 21st century's great face of innovation, Elon, and his large flying dildo project.
The 2019 report from the UN's International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) shows that Agriculture and deforestation account for 23 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. However, the report also says that if the entire spectrum of food production was factored in - from crops to transportation and packaging—that percentage could be as high as 37 percent.
Again, these figures show that the food industry and our consumption habits are in dire need of an update. The aim of Klimato is to be able to deliver data-driven emission reduction strategies through our tool. With the help of reliable LCA data, our goal is to facilitate climate-smart choices for individuals as well as organizations and thus contribute to a climate-smart food system.
We are really excited to share more news on ClimateX in the near future - stay tuned!
